Earlier this month, Women On Air was invited to join the Brussels Binder Beyond (BBBeyond) workshop in that very city. A match made in heaven for us at WOA, their focus has been on redressing the gender imbalance in debates that impact policy making and by extension, the ordinary lives of European citizens.

Supported by the European Commission, Brussels Binder Beyond builds upon The Brussels Binder initiative. BBBeyond will combat the trend of the underrepresentation of women in public debates by creating a pan-European network of women expert databases and like-minded organisations to help develop practical tools to give women’s voices the platform they deserve.

As we keep saying, women make up more than half of the population and public debate, be it on the airwaves or in a conference room often informs the first stage in making public policy. The Brussels Binder, like us, want to see more women with voice and power and now after setting up their database of female experts across multiple disciplines, they have reached out beyond Brussels to create links with other female databases.

Organisations like ours, who are so invested in changing the landscape of the airwaves through making contacts and helping each other in a very practical way is inspiring. Women On Air is now officially part of the Brussels Binder Beyond project and very proud to be associated with a organisation working towards gender equality with such energy and flair.
