Academic researcher and political analyst from and based in Northern Ireland, currently working as a Research Fellow at The University of Edinburgh.
I previously worked as a Research Associate at the University of Liverpool, studying the Alliance Party and non-unionist and non-nationalist voters in Northern Ireland. Prior to this, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Newcastle University, on the ESRC-funded ‘Performing Identities: Post-Brexit Northern Ireland and the reshaping of 21st Century Governance’ project.
I hold a PhD in Law and Politics from Queen's University Belfast.
My main expertise is in UK politics, particularly Northern Ireland, power-sharing, devolution and elections. This also includes work on law and politics in relation to Brexit, the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland and UK international relations, particularly with Ireland and the EU.
I am a frequent contributor to radio, television and print media in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
