Hi, my name is Ursula Jacob and in media terms, I am best known as an analyst and commentator on RTE Radio and Television sports programmes, covering hurling and camogie in particular. I have 4 All Ireland senior camogie titles and have been awarded 4 All-Stars as well as numerous other accolades for camogie including 13 senior county titles and 2 All Ireland club- championship titles with my club, Oulart- The Ballagh.

I come from a nationally recognised sporting family- the Jacobs from Oulart- The Ballagh and Wexford- with my father Mick being Wexford’s first hurling All- Star, my brother’s Michael and Rory represented Wexford senior hurling for many years while my sister Helena played with me when I won most of the above mentioned awards.

As well as a Bachelor of Business in Recreation and Sport Management, I hold a Masters in Sports Psychology. Currently, I work as a Staff Officer with Tusla Child and Family Agency.

As well as my obvious involvement and interest in sport and its promotion amongst young people, I also love fashion, films and travel and I constantly endeavour to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for young people.

I have been invited to take part in many and varied forums and I have enjoyed being the guest speaker and presenting awards at various functions. Travel is no obstacle, as I enjoy motoring to different locations and, being a non- drinker facilitates this.

I realise that there is a need and demand for more women to be involved in media but I firmly believe it should be for their expertise and ability to contribute positively, and not in order to satisfy any gender quotas.

The following are just some examples of my media involvements over the past 2 years:
