Lise Hand is a print journalist, broadcaster and regular contributor to current affairs programmes on national TV and radio, including Prime Time, The Week in Politics and The Today Show on RTÉ One, and a wide range of political and arts programmes on Radio One, Newstalk and Today FM such as Arena, The Hard Shoulder and The Last Word.
Over the course of three decades she has worked at a variety of national newspapers including The Sunday Tribune, The Sunday Independent, The Sunday Times, The London Times and The Irish Independent, covering everything from the arts to sport, fashion, features, current affairs and politics.
From 2006 to 2016 she held the position of parliamentary sketch writer for the Irish Independent and subsequently for The Times Ireland edition. She has recently contributed opinion columns and political analysis for The Journal.
She has also worked in the film industry, as researcher/extras casting agent and director’s assistant on the Oscar-nominated ‘In the Name of the Father’. In 2016, her short story on the events of 9/11 was adapted into a short film ‘11th Hour’ directed by Oscar-winner Jim Sheridan and starring Oscar nominee Salma Hayek.
Her experience in production includes two radio documentaries for ‘The Last Word on Today FM, titled ‘The Rebel Princess: Why did the Irish Cry for Diana?’ (2017) and ‘Papal Attraction: Ireland in 1979’ (2018). She is currently developing a podcast series with an independent production company.
