Dr Valerie Gannon is a Lecturer in Advertising at the School of Marketing, College of Business, Technological University Dublin (TUD). She holds a PhD from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, University College Dublin, and a BA and MA from University College Cork. Prior to joining TUD she worked in marketing and advertising management roles for 10 years in Irish technology and marketing companies and with an Irish national newspaper. Her research and teaching ranges across Advertising, Media and Marketing Communications with a particular interesting in social media, social media influencers and celebrity. She has over 25 years of experience in teaching, research and supervision of student research at TUD at undergraduate, master’s and PhD level.


Her research has been published in the European Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Management and the Journal of Customer Behaviour. She has presented at national and international conferences including Consumer Culture Theory (CCT), the International Consumer Brand Relationship Conference, the Academy of Marketing, and the Irish Academy of Management.


Dr Valerie Gannon is available to comment on broad and contemporary developments and issues in advertising creativity, advertising media, social media platforms and developments, representations of minorities in media, media regulation, consumers and media, and advertising and media research methods and trends.
